Here’s proof there can be decades between inspiration and fruition. These wallflowers at the edge of Tillamook Bay with Garibaldi’s Fishing Dock in the background caught my eye in 2002. I’ve been determined to paint it ever since and have stopped back by many times to check and see if there was something better than what I had planned. Each time I returned however, the plan I had from the photographs I’d taken was clearly strongest. To me its proof that a moment of inspiration can be profound and genuine and I need to follow that initial instinct.
