Hanging On To Fall

The simple forms of nature are frequently where my inspiration begins to take shape. Then combined with rich hues and the ever present ocean, it becomes even clearer and I know it’s time to paint. In my work each brush stroke is impacted by the previous one and in turn dictates what will follow. With a painting like this I realize I’m building it one stroke at a time and work slowly to make sure each is planned before the brush hits the paper. As with most paintings it’s a mix of experience, confidence and abandon.
