Northern Points

Description

Looking north from the sand dunes of Cannon Beach toward the majestic points of Ecola Park is a view as spectacular as can be found on any coastline in our world.
There are several distinguishing features that give the Pacific Northwest beaches their unique charm and stunning beauty. Our rugged shore with all its points and rocks contrast against the soft, subtle, and yet constantly changing sky. For me as an artist it provides an abundance of inspiration.

To be able to stroll through the dry sand down to the ocean’s edge at sunset is one of the simple pleasures on our beautiful coast. I hope I never get to the point in life that a moment like this doesn’t stop me in my tracks, reminding me of the blessing of just being alive. My goal in this painting was to capture one of those moments for myself and for others.
