Description
Fresh snow is generally welcomed for the beauty and calm it brings. We get a dusting a couple of times each winter on the Oregon Coast, but waking up to a blanket of snow is a real treat. As a child growing up in Portland I enjoyed many snow days. As a Cannon Beach resident I can count our snow events on one hand. When snow falls however, everyone’s plans are put on hold as we enjoy the wonder and solitude of the moment.
I’ve been planning this painting for decades and this past winter decided it was finally time to put paint to canvas. I chose this location with the beautifully sculpted tree and coastline that includes Haystack Rock because I always navigate there on snowy mornings, knowing inspiration is assured.
We are reproducing this oil painting as a giclèe print on canvas.
