Description
I miss the pace of my younger days when things were much simpler… slower. In those early years (before Google Earth) we explored up and down the Northwest Coast in my VW Bus looking for surf & solitude. We truly felt like modern pioneers or explorers.
It’s wonderful when a moment of inspiration presents itself and everything is there, floating right down the middle. I’m especially fond of those fleeting moments when warm light illuminates the foreground subject with cooler grays prominent in the distance. Somehow, it feels so right.
When I happened upon this spot, I knew in time I would paint it and although it took longer than expected, I’m happy with the way it turned out. It’s also a reminder that patience and persistence pay off in the end. Back then we were pretty good at slowly poking along… unless the surf was good at the end of the road. Nowadays I don’t know about you, but I could use an extra helping of “slow” in my life.
We are reproducing this oil painting as a giclèe print on canvas.
