Ridge Rise

It’s no secret to those familiar with art that watercolor is the most difficult medium to work with. John Singer Sargent called it “making the best of an emergency”.  There are occasionally “happy accidents” however. When the unexpected happens you generally have a minute or two to decide if the surprise is worth pursuing or should be wrestled back into submission. The warm hues below the foliage took on loose but believable characteristics and I opted to just let it happen. I’m glad I did.
