Spruce Sentinel
Living life on the ocean front takes its toll on everything as evidenced in the character of this gnarly old spruce tree. Working on this watercolor, I was again reminded after decades as an artist, of the importance of rhythm in the visual arts. I found myself revising the size and distance between everything in this painting to bring harmony to it. Those elements are as important in all art as they are in all music.
