Swooping In
Personally, I gravitate toward the quietest stretches of shoreline for the solitude it provides and have long felt it was kind of a “northwest thing” to be alone on a beach. While walking along the ocean’s edge, most of us naturally find ourselves looking toward the sea or at the sand beneath our feet. This day, I glanced away from the ocean at just the right moment as this gull glided into the bright light in contrast to the cliff in the deep shadows behind him. Inspiration struck. Apparently, there was something of interest on the beach his brethren had discovered that he needed to get in on.
