Taking Flight

This watercolor started with a simple background of moody sunset hues. Once dry the branches and leaves were added quickly. Then it slowed down considerably. I had to glaze washes of gold and silver for a touch of sparkle over the top of the dry leaves being careful to soften the edges just enough. The birds winging toward the sun was the final piece of the composition.
