Sometimes it’s hard to get started painting after a break, so I have a note in my studio reminding me that “Sketching Brings Inspiration”. So, sketching came through again for me and I grabbed the subject, this bedraggled Crab Float, and cropped it and foreshortened it in a square format, something that is uncommon for me. One of the things I love about painting with oils is the rich, intense color that works so well for a subject like this.
